FutureAdvisor Review

FutureAdvisor is an interesting mix of portfolio advisor and robo-advisor. The service will give you advice on your current investment account but can also manage your account if you transfer them to a TD Ameritrade or Fidelity account.

FutureAdvisor: Overall

FutureAdvisor offers a more diverse experience when it comes to investing, which makes it an interesting choice. Instead of hosting your money in its own right, it manages accounts through TD Ameritrade and Fidelity, giving you flexibility when it comes to where you are investing your money.

FutureAdvisor: Fees

Annual fee: FutureAdvisor charges a flat 0.50% fee to manage your investments. 401(k) advising through TD Ameritrade and Fidelity is free.

Minimum balance: There is no minimum balance to access the tools of FutureAdvisor.

Investing advice: The advice FutureAdvisor gives is always free, but you are the mercy of the fees of either TD Ameritrade or Fidelity.

FutureAdvisor: Options

Retirement Advice: This is FutureAdvisor’s free service that will access your retirement investments and let you know how to improve them. Again, this is only available through TD Ameritrade or Fidelity.

Investment Management: This is the robo-advisor aspect of FutureAdvisor. The robo-advisor will invest ETFs and manage your portfolio for you whether it be IRAs or other taxable accounts.

College Savings: FutureAdvisor’s college savings advice is also free, which is a nice perk of signing up with the service.

FutureAdvisor: Features

The benefit of FutureAdvisor is its wide range of features, including free monitoring of retirement and college savings accounts. It also offers access to personal advisors, which many robo-advisors only offer through premium programs. In addition, FutureAdvisor offers similar features to other robo-advisors, including automatic rebalancing, tax-aware trading and fund selection.
