This popular email marketing service has been around for a while now, and it owes its longevity to a high-quality performance. It simply gets the job done; that’s why GetResponse remains one of the top-notch email marketing programs available to businesses. The features and options available in GetResponse are arguably some of the most comprehensive selections available.

GetResponse offers a number of pricing plans, although the pricing structure is somewhat complex. The more advanced plans become available as your business’s list size increases. You can garner some savings by paying for a year’s worth of service up front, and if you go for a full two years prepay, your savings will almost double.
Free Trial: GetResponse offers a 30-day free trial so you can check out all of its tools and features.
- Email Features
- Track statistics
- Track purchasing behavior
- Automatically generates welcome message
- Over 1,000 stock images
While GetResponse offers fewer font styles and the image editor can be a bit glitchy at times, it is easy to use. You don’t need to be highly tech-savvy to effectively and effortlessly navigate through the program. GetResponse comes packed with more than 500 professionally designed email templates. You can create custom emails or newsletters using your own HTML, or you can use one of hundreds of templates provided.
- Contacts Features
- Accepts contact lists in spreadsheet or text file formats
- Uploading tool
- Collects scattered groups of contacts
Almost all email marketing companies offer tools to help you import your contacts from other sources. GetResponse goes one step further, providing a simple import tool that is capable of easily handling a wide variety of contact list formats. It offers an uploading tool to help you import files from spreadsheets or text files. GetResponse includes specialized tools to automatically collect your lists from online services such as Salesforce, FreshBooks or Zendesk. You can copy and paste long list of addresses directly into it.
- Extras
- Clean, sleek, clear dashboard
- Large font sizes and whitespace reduces eye strain
- Inbox Preview tool
- Drag-and-drop page editor
GetResponse does one thing that many email marketing companies overlook: provides attention to detail. Too many companies don’t give much thought to the look and feel of the dashboards for accounts. Also, there often doesn’t seem to be much attention paid to details like the appearance of email editors and analytical charts. GetResponse is at the top of the pile in this area.
- Customer Service
- Phone, email and live chat
GetResponse won the 2013 Bronze Stevie Award for customer service team of the year. Its customer service department received a citation as one of the best for use of technology in customer support. You can reach customer support Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Live chat and email support is available 24/7 year-round. If you send a message using the contact form, you’ll receive a reply via email.
GetResponse: User Reviews
GetResponse: Comments
Most email marketing services offer basic, rock-bottom plans starting at less than $10.00 per month. GetResponse’s cheapest option begins at $15.00 per month, making it one of the priciest in the bunch. However, with GetResponse you’re getting access to one of the best sets of features you’ll find in email marketing services. As an entry-level customer, you’ll receive full access to the company’s software.
If price is a major factor in your decision for an email marketing solution, there are many cheaper options out there. Yet few will offer the features of GetResponse. Although GetResponse doesn’t offer event marketing tools, it is still a great value for any level of business.
How Does GetResponse Work?
GetResponse loaded its system with powerful tools and features to give your email marketing campaign an extra boost in effectiveness. It has the capability to drive your results to where you want them.
The email creator is easy to use and lets you generate beautiful emails optimized for any device. This enables your campaigns to reach people via their smartphones and tablets, in addition to the traditional desktop contact. Smart automation can help convert more leads into active, buying customers.
What Makes GetResponse Stand Out?
Most email marketing services offer autoresponders but GetResponse has some of the best functions available with its autoresponders. It allows you to set either time-based or action-based messages.
GetResponse offers a new version of their autoresponder functionality. They call this feature “Marketing Automation,” and it allows you to create automation workflows by using a simple drag-and-drop builder. You set up your own flowchart that instructs GetResponse on how to respond if a user opens a particular offer or clicks on a specific link. This level of functionality goes beyond what is traditionally offered in autoresponder sets.
Common Reviews of GetResponse
GetResponse is straightforward and easy to use. It performs all the basic imports and creates campaigns that include autoresponders and statistical checks.
The most-often cited area of complaint is with the newsletter editor. It uses a drag-and-drop approach that many describe as “clunky” to use. There have been reports of accidental deletion of content or incorrect placement of content into the wrong part of a newsletter. In general, the idea behind the editor seems to be good; the implementation is a bit disappointing, however.
Is GetResponse for Me?
If you’re looking to save money on a long-term email marketing subscription plan, GetResponse is probably not for you, especially when you consider its no refund policy on annual plans. However, it does offer competitively priced plans for month-to-month email services.
The wide array of features offered by GetResponse allows it to meet the needs of both small and large email marketing campaigns.
